Caytie is a Charleston native who has always loved animals and the outdoors. After graduating from Ashley Ridge High School, she earned a degree in biology from the College of Charleston. Before joining our team, she has worked as an intern and volunteer at the South Carolina Aquarium and as a stable hand at Middleton Place Farm. She has cared for farm animals large and small, exotic animals, family pets, and a few endangered animals. She has said goodbye to one beloved pet, a cat named Simba who was with her seventeen years, so she understands pet loss and caring for animals in crisis. She has rescued kittens, birds, and a flying squirrel. Her own pets currently consist of two dogs and two cats, all rescues. Her favorite part of her work experience has been learning how instinctual behaviors of animals influence their domesticated behaviors and how we can use that information to care for them and understand them better.
