Good news, pet parents!  Numerous studies have linked improved human health through pet ownership.  Some direct benefits, as listed by the CDC, are as follows:

  • Improved cardiovascular health by lowering blood pressure, cholesterol, and triglycerides
  • Mental health benefits through decreased feelings of loneliness and increased opportunities of socialization with peers
  • Increased opportunities for exercise and outdoor activities – just potty breaks alone create this!

There are also some peer reviewed studies that indicate animal assisted therapy helps maintain mental stability in all ages.
